our logo
We have prayerfully considered the selection of a logo that is intentional and that has meaning denoting our mission and purposes as a church of and for Jesus Christ.
We begin with the mark. First there are four components of the mark representing our four LIFE purposes:
Living for others;
Inviting others to LIFE in Christ;
Following the teachings of God’s Word; and,
Exalting God above all.
There are also various colors in the mark representing our diversity in age, in gender, in ethnicity, in experiences, and in our spiritual gifts. We each have a unique contribution to the family of Gateway, the body of Christ.
The four components appear as arrow points representing our unity, coming together, connecting, pointing toward the center of the cross. Our basis is Ephesians 4, coming together in “one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all.”
The mark also has the appearance of roads or paths intersecting. We want to be a church that reaches out and connects with our community showing them the path to Jesus Christ and coming together with us to experience LIFE in him.
Most importantly for the mark is the form of a cross representing that we follow our risen Lord who came for us, lived for us, died for us, arose for us paying the price for our sin redeeming us unto God and coming again for us. How great a Savior!
We continue with our name, Gateway. There are often questions regarding prominence in the mention of our denomination. We will remain a Southern Baptist church continuing our partnership as a supporting member of our denomination. In our official correspondence, we will include Baptist Church in reference to who we are. Our letterhead, envelopes, and information cards will reference Gateway Baptist Church. But, the logo itself contains only the mark and the reference to our name, Gateway. At times, you will see a “tag” under our mark containing “baptist church”, and at other times you’ll see our theme, “experiencing LIFE together.” In fact, the marquee sign in front of our church will contain “Baptist Church” with our logo. By our mark and our name, we want to attract people in our community not because of our denomination but because we connect with them and invite them to experience LIFE in Christ together with us. We want to be a church that is first the body of Christ and relevant to a community in need of Christ.
Gateway is written as a contemporary, relevant font signifying that we will be as Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 9:22-23: “I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel …”
And, with the lower case font, we join with John the Baptist in saying, “He must become greater; I must become less.” May we all live a LIFE worthy of our calling by putting God on display in our community and in our world.
